ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Ernst-Georg Lorinser
Researcher, author and lifelong student of craftsmanship, history and flavour.
The best stories are found where curiosity, craftsmanship and history meet.

01
Curiosity & Research
I have always been drawn to subjects that combine history, craftsmanship, culture and a desire to understand how things work.
Whether exploring whisky, literature, history or technology, I enjoy asking questions, connecting ideas and uncovering the stories behind them.
02
Why Books?
Books allow us to go beyond the surface.
They create space for context, nuance and storytelling, making complex subjects accessible and enjoyable for curious readers.

03
Current & Future Projects
My current work includes 37 Styles of Whisky, an exploration of whisky traditions, production methods and flavour development.
Future projects will continue to explore subjects shaped by history, culture, craftsmanship, curiosity and storytelling.
04
Beyond Writing
Alongside my publishing work, I work as an independent consultant specialising in automotive technology, emissions, regulatory topics and data analysis.
Different fields, same motivation: understanding complex subjects and making them accessible to others.

05
A Lifelong Curiosity
Beyond writing and consulting, I enjoy exploring the natural world, discovering new places and learning about the traditions, crafts and cultures that shape them. Whether hiking through forests in search of wild mushrooms, travelling to unfamiliar destinations, exploring local and foreign cuisine or simply following a new line of inquiry, I am driven by a fascination for how people, places and ideas connect.
Many of the subjects that find their way into my books begin as simple questions sparked by a journey, a conversation, a meal or an unexpected discovery. Curiosity, to me, is one of life’s greatest rewards.
"Many journeys begin with a destination. The most interesting ones begin with a question."
